Rhyl Airshow Returns

Following the outstanding success of last year’s event the Rhyl Air Show will be returning this year on August 7th and 8th.
This free event is organised by Denbighshire County Council’s Maritime and Regeneration Department and supported by the Royal Airforce and Rhyl Town Council.
This seaside event is set to be bigger and better this year with planned displays from the world famous RAF’s Red Arrows and Falcon Parachute teams. The event will also include a number of civilian display teams such as the Breitling Wing Walkers, The Yakovlevs and Gerald Cooper - Aerobatic Pilot.
For aircraft enthusiasts the event will provide an opportunity to see the Hunter and Jet Provost in flight. The BAC Jet Provost, originally built by Hunting Percival, was a British jet powered trainer aircraft used by the RAF from 1955 until 1993. It was powered by an Armstrong Siddeley Viper jet engine. The Hawker Hunter, another British jet fighter and ground attack aircraft used by the RAF during the 1950’s and 1960’s was widely exported and served with 19 air forces world wide.
An estimated audience of over 30,000 were enthralled by the show last year and enjoyed a great day out.
Alongside the flying programme there will be plenty of activity on the ground including an air show village, fun fair and entertainment. The main airshow will take place on Sunday, August 8th, but on Saturday, August 7th, there will be fly pasts, the RAF Parachute Display Team and promenade displays.
Military Displays are, of course, subject to operational requirement and the weather but put these dates in your diary now and check on the show website www.rhylairshow.co.uk for further details.
