St Asaph Choral Society

Did you listen to our last concert? We performed a wonderful selection of baroque music including the very popular ‘Gloria’ by Vivaldi. Our next concert in December is in complete contrast when we will perform Britten’s ‘St Nicolas’, Christmas music, and carols composed by our previous conductor, Paul Harvey.
If you have sung in a choir you will know what an exhilarating experience it can be! We are so fortunate to be able to sing in the Cathedral; the setting is magnificent and the acoustics are marvellous! Would you like to join us?
There are no auditions but an ability to read music is a distinct advantage. If you can give a regular commitment to attend Monday evening rehearsals and enjoy choral music you would be most welcome!
We meet in the Dean’s Library at 7.30pm and our first rehearsal will be on Monday 1st September. Come along then or for more information contact Maggie Towse on 01492 514870.

Passed Away Mrs. Margaret Davies (Madge)

Mrs. Margaret Davies, fondly known to all as Madge, Llys y Felin, Mill Street, passed away recently after a long illness. The funeral was held at the Parish Church on Friday, July 4th.
Madge was born and raised in Lancashire and moved to St. Asaph during the second World War when she served in the Women’s Land Army. While living in St. Asaph she met and married her husband, Ken and throughout their marriage they remained in the city where the brought up their children.
Madge and Ken ran a taxi business which served the community and surrounding areas and a number of hospitals. On retiring they moved to Llys y Felin where Madge organised many enjoyable and fund raising events. She also enjoyed and created an award winning garden and many friendships were made which she treasured.
She wished to be remembered as a beloved wife to Ken, loving mother to Tony, Elaine, Linda, Pam, Julie and Lisa; mother-in-law, Nan and Great Grandmother. Our sympathies and those of her many friends go to the family.
