Community Centre Back On Agenda
The building of a Community Centre for the city is once again back on the agenda and a Community Centre Association has been formed to work in partnership with the Town Council with the aim of building on the Town Council owned land at the rear of the Library.
An Open Meeting was called recently by the Mayor, Cllr. Elsie Powell and Chairman of the Association, Cllr. Dewi Owens following which officers were appointed and the Association were able to consider a fund raising programme which began with a Coffee Morning which raised over £150.
Anyone wishing to help in any way or has any enquiries about the Community Association should contact Cllr. Dewi Owens (584825) or the Secretary, Charles Leach (584040) .
A series of fund raising events are planned (See Diary) including regular Coffee mornings and Bingo evenings, with other events in the pipeline.
The Vice-Chairman, Mr. Horton, told members at a meeting on July 16th, that he had had discussions with both the planning department of DCC and the Environment Agency and that the proximity of the proposed building site to the river would mean that hurdles would have to be overcome and considerable costs would be incurred in the process involving flood risk assessments. Next meeting Aug. 13th, 7pm, St. Winefride’s Church Hall. |
Cash Boost For V.P. Sport
Pupils at St. Asaph’s V.P. Infants School proudly display a cheque for £4,000 from the Awards for All Wales Lottery Fund which was applied for on their behalf by North Wales sport coaches who visit the school on a regular basis to coach and encourage an interest in participating in healthy exercise and sport.
The children thoroughly enjoy their sporting activities despite their tender age and, who knows, the next football star could be homegrown !
Granted Possession Of Horses
Denbighshire County Council has been granted possession of horses from a Llandegla farm following concerns about their welfare.
At Denbigh Magistrates Court recently magistrates granted the Council permission to gain possession of six horses belonging to Duncan Lloyd of Ty Newydd, Llandegla. The horses will be allocated to individuals around North Wales and the North West of England.
The horses were originally taken away from the Llandegla property as there was inadequate nutrition, a lack of suitable accommodation, waterlogged and muddy pasture with no nutritional value. |
