Asda’s Sporting Chance
As a result of a new initiative by Asda, local youngsters could get a helping hand when it comes to free sport this summer. The store is launching ‘Sporting Chance’ to get children swapping their computer games for a variety of free sporting sessions across the local area.
Helping to launch the scheme at the Kinmel Bay store recently was Stephanie Collister, the British No. 2 in under 14 foil fencing and a young lady with a bright future in the sport. Stephanie is pictured with the Mayor of Kinmel Bay and Towyn (left); Asda’s Events Organiser and Manager at Asda Kinmel Bay.
Sporting Chance is the company’s new scheme that aims to link children with free sport sessions and support emerging young athletes of the future by giving them a £500 award grant. All customers need to do is pick up a leaflet from any Asda store and log on to www.asda-sportingchance.co.uk to see what is near them and then go along with the free voucher.
Over 700 athletes countrywide will be selected each year (half in April and then in September) to receive the Sporting Chance Grants with each Asda store being responsible for two different young athletes each year for the next five years (one male and one female). The grants are intended to help with travel, equipment and training expenses.
